DARLINGTON – Mrs. Callie Wheeler, 83, Rt. 1 Darlington, a resident south of here for the last 54 years, died at 2:15 p.m. Friday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. David Burk of Rt. 1. She had been ill since June. A native of Fincastle, Va., she was a daughter of Edward and Alice Siegle Crowder and was born Jan. 4, 1883. She was educated in Virginia and married Harry E. Wheeler in Crawfordsville May 12, 1912. He died June 3, 1942. Mrs. Wheeler was a member of the Darlington Congregational Christian Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ray Hampton of Waynetown and Mrs. Burk; a son, Joe Wheeler of Crawfordsville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Sadie Smith and Miss Minnie Crowder of Fincastle and Mrs. Mary Cartwright of Bluefield, W.Va. Funeral services are announced for 2 p.m. Monday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home in Crawfordsville with Rev. Eddie Bamish officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Sunday. – jlr
